11 students from TCMS are auditioning for the 2025 West Virginia Middle School All-State Band. They’ve been working very hard for several months to prepare their material. Today, they completed their video auditions. The students will find out in a few weeks if they were accepted. Bravo to these outstanding musicians! This afternoon, we held our annual 8th grade ‘Football vs. Volleyball’ volleyball game! The volleyball team dominated the court, winning 2 sets to 0 and improving their undefeated record to 3-0 since we started this fun tradition. It’s always a great time seeing our students come together for a little friendly competition and school spirit! #KnightsPride
During today’s Thankful Fun Friday, Mr. Riggle organized an incredible school-wide Madden 25 Xbox tournament. Sixty-four students competed in a 32-team bracket, and Tyler Skinner and Coleton Forrester came out on top as champions! Each will receive an NFL jersey of their choice. This was such a fun way to reward students for their hard work and wrap up the week before Thanksgiving Break!

Mr. Cain's and Mrs. Shortridge's PE classes have been working through their unit on badminton this week. After learning and practicing the skills and rules of the game, each class held a one on one tournament to put their knowledge and skills to the test!
In honor of tomorrow being a Pittsburgh Steelers game day on Thursday Night Football, Mr. Winters is declaring Thursday, November 21st as Black and Yellow Day at TCMS!
Students are also welcome to sport their favorite NFL team if they do not support the Steelers (but you will be outnumbered)!

Today, 27 of our TCMS 8th graders who are in the 7th period CTE rotation attended the Explore: The New Manufacturing Regional Academy at West Virginia Northern Community College in Wheeling, WV. Students enjoyed presentations from Consol Innovations, Mull Group, and Tecnocap, who are all local manufacturing companies to the Wheeling area. Students ended the day with a STEM challenge to build the tallest tower out of paper and tape that could hold a can of food. Special recognition goes to Alexis, Julian, Sky, Dylan, and Jarrett, who built the tallest tower among all schools with a height of 38.5 inches! Great job, Knights!
We are so grateful to have Tyler County Lieutenant Detective Scott Dalrymple in our community! Today, he took the time to read stories to two of our 7th grade students and they absolutely loved it! Thank you, Scott Dalrymple, for being such a great role model and for making a positive impact on the lives of our young people!

Tomorrow, November 15th, we are excited to welcome Jim Holler, a retired police chief and nationally recognized expert in child safety and internet crime investigation, to Tyler Consolidated Middle School for a special presentation on Internet Safety for our middle and high school students. Mr. Holler has over 30 years of experience in law enforcement and has been instrumental in developing internet safety programs to protect children and teens from online dangers. His expertise has guided families, educators, and law enforcement agencies across the nation.
Parents and Guardians, your role in internet safety and social media use and misuse for your student is critical. While students will gain insights on managing online interactions, you are key to creating a safe online environment at home. Parental monitoring and guidance can significantly reduce risks, making the internet and social media platforms a safer space for our students. Most importantly, please check their phones and internet usage!
With your help we can build a safer, more supportive community—both online and offline. Please, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to call the school.

Today, we rewarded our students who have met expectations in attendance, academics, and behavior so far this school year with a trip to the Wheeling Nailers School Day Game. Mrs. Moore’s advisory class, winners of our Attendance Madness competition, had the honor of holding the American Flag on the ice during the National Anthem, while Mr. Maiden’s advisory class, the runners-up, got to high-five the players in the tunnel as they took the ice. It was a great day recognizing our students’ hard work and commitment.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, November 12, TCMS students who have met attendance, academic, and behavior expectations will attend the Wheeling Nailers School Day Game. The bus leaves at 8:15 AM and returns before 3:00 PM, all within the regular school day. Students who signed up to bring their own lunch should remember to pack it, and we will also be providing school lunches for those who selected a school lunch on the permission form. Concessions and a gift shop will be available if you’d like to send money with your child. All school rules will apply on the field trip, including the no cell phone policy. Thank you for your support, and we are looking forward to this fun experience together!
Due to illness, middle school girls basketball practice is cancelled this evening. Practice will resume on Monday. Please call the school if you need to make any travel arrangements for the end of the day.
